The records consist of reports of the New Guinea mission work of the Neuendettelsau Mission Society of Germany, the Evangelical Lutheran Synod of Iowa and Other States (Iowa Synod), and the United Evangelical Lutheran Church in Australia (UELCA). They are separated into general reports, trip reports, field reports, school reports, station reports, and missionary reports. Most of the reports are in German. The general reports are records prepared by the administrative units and their directors. These include Richard Taeuber, secretary for the Board of Foreign Missions of the Iowa Synod; F. Otto Thiele, director of the combined Iowa Synod and UELCA work; and printed reports of mission workers (anstelt) and conferences of Neuendettelsau. Trip reports are arranged by the name of the executive making the trip. There are trip reports for Taeuber and Thiele as well as William Krausharr, first chairman of the Board of Foreign Missions of the Iowa Synod, and a Dr. Eppelein. Field reports are further divided into general, schools, stations, and missionaries. General reports cover the physical operations of the mission, such as building, business, medical, and plantations. Station reports are divided into districts. Finally, the missionary reports are individual reports that each missionary was supposed to do annually, although there are only random reports from each.
